As a Senior Launch Engineer – Mechanical Systems you work within the wide Launch Engineering team, your role will focus on the fluids and ground support equipment for launch pad systems.  Your responsibilities will include the design, build, testing and commissioning of mechanical launch pad systems which include fluids and gas storage and transfer systems, as well as supporting structures, mechanisms, and tooling.   This position will also see you involved in project planning and working closely with technicians to ensure projects are delivered on time and to specification. As a senior member of the engineering team you will be a subject matter expert and technical decision maker.

Responsibilities

The position has four main areas of responsibility:

  • Design – You will take a senior lead in the design and development of mechanical systems which include vehicle interfaces, fluid systems, structures, and mechanisms
  • Integration & Test – Key responsibilities include the development and execution of test plans and procedures, development of test equipment and post-flight test data analysis
  • Operation Support – You will work closely with our Launch Test & Operations team you will design and maintain launch pad systems and procedures, whilst also supporting technicians remotely to trouble shoot activities
  • Team Development – As a senior member of the team you will be mentoring our junior engineers and undertaking technical design reviews.

Profile

Preferred skills and expertise:

  • Mechanicalor process, engineering degree or equivalent
  • 6+ years’ experience in engineering design, test and/or operations in aerospace and/or industrial sectors
  • CAD, SolidWorks, EPDM
  • Fluid system design to ASME B31.3
  • Ability to read, understand and follow detailed schematics, drawings and instructions
  • Ability to work in fast paced, autonomously driven environment
  • Proven communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships

 

Desirable skills:

  • Experience with launch pad systems OR oil and gas, process, mining, or other similar industry
  • Experience with cryogenic, flammable, and combustible fluid storage and transfer systems
  • Experience with structural design and analysis
  • Experience with fabrication/production of industrial machinery and equipment
  • NX and Teamcenter
  • Experience with ASME, ASTM, and/or NASA ground system standards would be an asset
