Serves as the technical representative for Manufacturing Engineering on programs and is responsible for providing the manufacturing definition and ME related activities within the program through its lifecycle.  The Chief ME supports all program / technical reviews (internal & external), ensuring complete understanding of progress, status and risk are communicated to enable robust decisions to be made, based on facts and evidence.

Co-ordinates and or executes the work of the Manufacturing Engineering (ME) team ensuring the manufacturing system meets stakeholder requirements including technical compliance; adherence to ME processes and standards and compliance business case (including quality; delivery and cost).

Responsibilities

  • Insure the ME processes and standards for product and process quality are completed for the assigned program. Processes to include but not limited to Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), DMAIC and Zero Defects Manufacturing.
  • Oversight of the delivery of a manufacturing system that fulfils all stakeholder requirements including:
    • Quality, H&S, design, producibility, business case etc.
  • Collecting and documenting the ME metrics including:
    • Product safety
    • Quality (including right first time measures)
    • Delivery (completion of the ME related activities in line with the agreed schedule)
    • Cost (NRC & RC)
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable Quality processes and procedures including;
    • All regulatory laws and guidelines are complied with:
    • Customer requirements (where mandated)
    • Export Control and ITAR requirements
  • Ensuring that all M.E. related reviews (internal & external) are completed to schedule and that the inputs / outputs are managed to the defined process (inclusive of capturing / actioning Risk and Lessons Learnt)
  • Ensuring the successful transition of a program from one lifecycle gate to the next
  • Support technical reviews (internal & external) as required

Profile

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline
  • 3+ years of APQP, DMAIC, or similar problem solving experience.
  • Previous GKN experience preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years as a Manufacturing Engineer within an Aerospace environment.

  • Good interpersonal team working skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.

  • Proactive in regard to new developments of expertise required.
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, strong minded and committed.
  • Innovative toward all aspects of the job.
  • Flexible and capable of working in a complex environment.
  • Good reporting and communication skills on project status and progress.
  • Capable of interfacing professionally with customers and suppliers.
  • Knowledge of Program Management, Risk Management, MS Project and Continuous Improvement desired.
