The job of Manufacturing Engineer is a highly qualified position, to plan, design, arrange, change, optimize, and supervise a manufacturing process. Manufacturing engineers are creative and analytical thinkers as well as process designers. The main responsibility of manufacturing engineer is to create, document, develop, and implement processes in support of part manufacture and business. Coach and assist co-workers in the organization.
Responsibilities
The Manufacturing Engineer (ME) under the direction of the Manufacturing Engineering Manager or Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible to:
- Develop, evaluate, improve and document manufacturing processes.
- Develop and implement process control techniques including work instructions for integrated product team support. This will include, but not be limited to, the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), etc.
- Analyze manufacturing process flows continually for the enhancements of quality, cost reduction, and lead-time reduction for new work.
- Collaborate with tool design & programming regarding product tooling and design to ensure effectual production methods.
- Work in concert with manufacturing & quality departments to develop, coordinate, and implement technical training for employees as required.
- Evaluate manufacturing processes for enhancements, product changes, and related fixtures and tooling that are consistent with zero defect level and low product cost for existing manufacturing processes.
- Ensure accurate documentation of tool drawings, process orders, etc. for new work
- Facilitate Kaizen events in support of Value Streams (VS) & Business Process Improvements (BPI); BPI future states and deploy LEAN/Continuous Improvement tools in support of VS & BPI.
- Support Value Stream Manager, estimate staffing requirements, production times, and relative costs to provide data for VS & operational decisions.
- Support as required Supply Chain with vendors to improve VS flow, resolve quality issues affecting manufacturing, assist in cost reduction efforts, etc.
- Support company policies and procedures, goals and objectives, and good manufacturing practices.
- Responsible for the investigation of engineering related Shop Discrepancy Reports (SDRs) and Rework Discrepancy Reports (RDRs) and facilitates for other internal and external investigations
- Responsible to support the PM in the execution of schedules on major changes to existing work scope or new business activities
- Responsible for scrap, tags, and escapes on product lines they have oversight
- Responsible for placards; incorporate new placards, update original placards and refine outdated placards
- Change Management Board Representative (CMRB) presenter for (e.g. process improvement), with support from PM and VSM
Profile
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Associate Degree, Bachelor Preferred, in Mechanical Engineering Technology or 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience.

- Enthusiastic, cooperative, and positive
- Degree in manufacturing related engineering field
- Aerospace manufacturing knowledge
- Background in Lean Manufacturing
- Engineering, and/or in a Manufacturing equivalent field
- Knowledge of or familiar with CATIA
