Principal Engineer is responsible for materials and processes support for multiple values streams engaged in forming, lamination, coating and assembly processes used in manufacture of aircraft transparencies.  They provide oversight and direction to M&P and manufacturing engineers as direct reports or in a matrix structure.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to operations to improve quality and yields and to support material issues, such as obsolescence and approval of new materials and suppliers
  • Provide problem solving and root cause analysis support to resolve internal and product field performance issues.
  • Develop process specifications.
  • Supervise engineers and technical assistants performing lab or production work.

Profile

Required Qualifications

  • BS or advanced degree in an engineering or physical science field such as chemical engineering, materials engineering/science, or chemistry.
  • 5+ years of relevant industrial development or experience.
  • US citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of polymer materials and processing methods (coating, molding, casting,  lamination).
  • Knowledge of analysis and characterization methods used for polymeric materials.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Strong continuous improvement and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communications skills.
