The Stress Engineer role will work within a project team carrying out either static stress analysis or fatigue and damage tolerance analysis on the A350 wing trailing edge to support DFM & certification phases. You will take full responsibility for analysis tasks, and will provide regular updates to your analysis team leader as well as the programs teams.

Responsibilities

  • Experience in Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Analysis of aircraft structures using a broad range of standard hand, legacy and harmonised methods
  • Ability to work in a team of F&DT engineers with guidance from Lead F&DT Engineer
  • Understanding of the Fatigue and Damage Tolerance analysis methods and F&DT Tools including ISAMI.
  • Ability to liaise and with the teams across the department including Design and Stress.
  • Optimise and evaluate strength and durability of respective components
  • Perform and properly interpret calculations, including manual calculations
  • Create FE models and evaluate the results
  • Stress validation of components
  • Compliance with customers and airworthiness authorities F&DT requirements
  • Oversee that all elements of stress analysis and activity are being satisfactorily addressed

Profile

  • BE or above in Mechanical, Aerospace, Aeronautical Engineering or relevant subject
  • Minimum 3 years of Experience.
  • Knowledge and experience in the design, development and qualification of airframes and vehicle systems, including expertise in one or more of:
    • Previous Experience on A350XWB or similar Airbus program.
    • Good knowledge of airframe static stress analysis techniques including hand calculation methods, finite element techniques, derivation of material and component allowable.
    • Good knowledge of airframe fatigue substantiation including safe life and fracture mechanics techniques.
    • Strong technical aptitude, including applicable engineering tools, and systems (ISAMI, NASTRAN, PATRAN, MS Office)
    • Strong Technical Report (Stress Dossier) writing skills.
