The Senior Industrial Engineer reports directly to the Senior Industrial Engineering Manager, working in conjunctions with other Industrial Engineers.  They will manage teams of contractors for installations and upgrades and with build and manage relationships with both internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

Initiates and directs programs with the specific purpose of improving the overall operations of the company through the use of Industrial Engineering Techniques designed toward optimizing operational costs and achieving maximum utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities and investment dollar.

Evaluates direct and indirect company operations using operation analysis procedures to determine the purpose and contribution of each process.

Recommends improvements keeping in mind the interaction of related operations or tasks and the optimization of operational costs.

Designs and oversees the fabrication and installation of manufacturing aids and equipment modifications to assist production as required.

Designs facilities, including layout of machines, equipment, offices, material handling equipment, raw material and product storage with the purpose of establishing the most efficient work flow and utilization of the facilities possible.  Typically involves investigating, analyzing and determining the overall advantage of requests for new facilities and equipment, the rearrangement of existing facilities and the modifications, repair or scrapping of machinery and equipment.

Assists in organizational planning by identifying capacity constraints and specifying requirements of facilities, equipment and human effort.

Advises management on cost impact of new jobs and the economics of making or buying of parts and processes.

Develops through various work measurement techniques, engineered time standards and performance measures required for performing various operations and introducing work simplification in order to reduce costs and simplify or eliminate motions.

Assists in the development and directs the installation and maintenance of employee recognition and incentive-type programs.

Verifies and tracks performance data, analyzing results identifying significant variances.

Investigates, collects and evaluates data for cause and effect of the variances and reports conclusions with recommendations to management.

Investigates causes of production problems and difficulties, recommending necessary steps to correct or improve those difficulties and, occasionally, directs the resolution through to completion.

Investigates and corrects dangerous health or physically hazardous conditions to ensure compliance with laws and regulations issued by OSHA, EPA, APCD and other Federal State and local regulatory agencies.

Coordinates, as required, with Safety and Environmental Engineering.

Provides technical assistance to other employees.

Interfaces daily with various departments at all levels of management.

Provides timely and quality service to in-house customers.

Interfaces regularly with customers and outside suppliers/contractors, and Corporate, as required.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Profile

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering or business or lieu of a degree 7+ years of experience and education will be considered.
  • 5+ years of industrial engineering experience in a manufacturing environment, including experience leading equipment installations and upgrades.
  • U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Aerospace industry experience preferred.
  • Project management experience.
  • Strong customer focus.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • 10% Travel expected.
