Reporting directly to the GKN Design team leads & chief engineer for the A350 Rear Spar & Trailing Edge Assemblies. The applicant will be responsible for creation and update details for parts and assemblies, models and 2D drawings, achieving delivery to time, cost and quality. A variety of integration, data exchange & configuration activities also might needed to ensure continuous support to the A350 Project across GKN UK and Europe sites.

Responsibilities

  • Design detail for parts and assemblies, producing models and 2D drawings achieving delivery to time, cost and quality.
  • Design work to create/update CATIA models and drawings.
  • Incorporate upgrade modifications into the drawing set and provide design solutions.
  • Develop technical solutions, compliant with requirements within agreed programmes and timescales.
  • Proactively liaise with internal contacts to report progress and ensure tasking is completed to the correct specifications, time cost and quality.
  • Support the Design Team Leader in the delivery of tasks, monitoring and reporting on delivery.
  • Demonstrates the ability to layout complex assemblies and a clear understanding of the principles and execution of Design for Manufacture.
  • Demonstrates a clear ability to self-check against a set of supplied criteria with a level of interpretation to ensure conformance, compliance and accuracy of execution.
  • Follow appropriate quality management procedures for defining technical content and project reporting.
  • Participate in the support of Engineering continuous improvement plans and “Lean” initiatives to develop improved operating processes and procedures.

Profile

  • Applicants must have a strong background in the aerospace engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years aerospace industry experience
  • Sound knowledge of Airbus tool sets, VPM & PASS SSI. Airbus training certificates of the same would be added advantage.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with a wide range of people and departments both internal and external to the company at all levels.
  • Flexibility to work on customer sites as part of plateau activities as & when required.
  • Competent user of CATIA v5 to design products from a set of stipulated design requirement through to completed manufactured part.
  • Competent user of GKN Windchill system.
  • Airbus modelling methodology accreditation
