The Controls Engineer/LabVIEW Developer will work as part of the Systems Integration team designing, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modifying hardware and software to support production electro-mechanical equipment and systems. The key focus of this position is National Instruments hardware and software. LabVIEW certification is preferred (CLD, or CLED), but experience without certifications will also be considered.

Job Summary

The Controls Engineer will work as part of the Systems Integration team designing, building, testing, troubleshooting, repairing and modifying hardware and software to support production electro-mechanical equipment and systems. The key focus of this position is National Instruments hardware and software.

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage Projects that support company and customer initiatives.
  • Assist in development of strategic plans for automation of existing processes.
  • Integration of automation hardware/sensors with SCADA system Manage, support and/or maintain specific processes and systems.
  • Interface with Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance to ensure complete systems integration.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and continuously improve the organization’s manufacturing systems.
  • Support the design, build, documentation, program, test and installation of control equipment for in house production use.
  • Mentor early-career controls engineers.
  • Drive continuous improvement as part of our team.

Profile

Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering or equivalent field of study.
  • 4 years of experience in a controls required, manufacturing / test environment preferred.
  • 3 years experience in a related field (Digital Controls, Software Development, or Manufacturing/Industrial Spaces).
  • 3 years PLCs and Allen Bradley based control systems (ladder diagram), motors, drives.
  • 2 years of experience with data acquisition systems and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems).
  • 2 years working knowledge and experience Wonderware Software for data acquisition.
  • U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of National Instruments hardware and software, including LabVIEW.
  • Proficient in LabVIEW Professional Development Environment, Real-time/FPGA, Soft-motion.
  • 3+ years of experience with cRIO Automation Controllers preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience with LabVIEW programming language is preferred.
  • Certified LabVIEW Developer (CLD), CLED (Certified LabVIEW Embedded Systems Developer) preferred, or willingness to achieve certification through National Instruments program.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Software management and documentation.
  • Read and generate hardware wiring diagrams, schematics, bill-of-materials.

Proficient or familiar with the following:

  • Vision System Programming (NI, Keyence, Cognex)
  • Compliance testing
  • Source Code Control using Microsoft TFS
  • Industrial Control Panel
  • Various types of industrial sensors (Temperature, pressure, flow, load cell)
  • HMI’s / Computers, TCP/IP Networks
  • Communications Standards (OPC-UA, Ethernet/IP, Time Synchronization)
  • Wonderware Software for data acquisition
  • PLCs and Allen Bradley based control systems (ladder diagram), motors, drives
  • 3 phase AC power systems
