The Benefits Manager provides benefits GKN offers competitive health, welfare, wellness and retirement benefits and helps to oversee the administration of US benefits and daily activities associated with employing +4,000 employees in the USA.

Responsibilities

  • Administer various employee benefit programs, such as medical, dental, vision, life, wellness, accident and disability insurance.
  • Communicate with carriers, vendors and TPAs to notify them of changes in coverage and to resolve employee issues.
  • Implement new benefits programs; arrange and conduct employee information presentations.
  • Assist in analyzing and resolving benefits issues.- Assist with the administration of the wellness programs that drive wellbeing, productivity and presenteeism.
  • Assist with annual open enrollment and the development of communications, policies and procedures.
  • Administration and operation of the retirement plans (401(k), pension plans, non-qualified deferred comp plans) and work directly with the retirement plan administrators to enable employees to collect pension, 401(k) and non-qualified balances.
  • Review and research benefits issues to ensure that coverage for all employees on benefits plan is accurate; assist with enrollment of employees as necessary.
  • Answer benefits questions from HR; researches specific questions with vendors and responds verbally or in writing as necessary.
  • Serve as liaison between HR at the various GKN US locations and benefits vendors as needed; resolve problems.

Profile

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Benefits role, or in an HR with significant benefits exposure, required, including experience in creating/developing and implementing new processes.
  • Benefits administration experience with an employee population of 1,000 or more required
  • Must be a U.S. Person.

Additional Qualifications

  • Knowledge of COBRA, ERISA, Healthcare Reform
  • Affordable Care Act (ACA) and related state and federal regulations preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of benefits terminology, practices, and processes preferred.
  • Must be able to analyze legal documents for accuracy.
  • Must be comfortable working with large amounts of data for the purpose of finding and correcting errors.
  • Must be comfortable with HR- and benefits-related software and systems as well as MS Office programs.
  • Must be able to be accountable and multi-task in a fast-paced, complex environment with many moving parts.
  • Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality internal customer service.
