The country manager (CM) is responsible for the organization and operation of RUAG Space USA in terms of management performance, operational structure and financial results. As a secondary function they support the commercial development of RUAG opportunities in the US. This role is responsible for the operational management of the US organization and its employees.

Working with the company CEO and SVP of Operations, the CM will plan and direct activities for the US, to ensure cohesion across the US sites and that the US is performing at the highest level. This position also serves as the local point of contact to facilitate resource conflicts when the product groups and department heads are not co-located at the same site and participates in the strategic planning for the organization, as it relates to the US.

This position must also lead the implementation of strategic goals and objectives and must develop, administer and maintain continuous improvement methodologies at the national level.  Further, this position is responsible efficient, cost-effective facility operations and must review financial and operating reports & prepare budget and sales forecasts with the local and international finance and sales teams.

Responsibilities

  • Establishes and directs country unit organization
  • Ensures compliance of the legal entity with all applicable RUAG and external regulations
  • Leads country level budgeting and controlling in alignment with business objectives
  • Leads overall planning and allocation of non-product group resources, including necessary investments and facilities selection
  • Leads development of necessary competences/capabilities of management team
  • Deploys continuous improvement process and lean initiatives across the US, based on monitoring of agreed KPIs at the country level
  • Supports US media relations
  • Has signature for the US on contractual and legal documents
  • Defines Country Operations strategy through our established organizational management model using A3’s and the X-Matrix
  • Gives active input on product group engineering and sales plans and manages to budget and relevant KPI’s for the US.
  • Contribute to the PGs Strategies through the annual Strategy Review
  • Leads the US Country Management team and continually assesses and reports on company progress towards sales, business and financial goals and marketing successes.
  • Represents the company externally with government, statutory/regulatory bodies and business partners/allies.
  • Develops and implements internal systems for logistics, commercial and financial information flows to support business objectives.

Profile

  • International business skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Manufacturing or other related discipline; Masters preferred
  • 10 or more years of pertinent experience in senior leadership operations roles with P&L responsibility
  • Experience within the defense or aerospace industries is strongly preferred
  • Six Sigma Certification preferred
  • Strong leadership, motivation and managerial skills
  • Working knowledge of FARS, DFARS, GAAP, government contracting is a plus
  • Effective listening, communication (verbal and written), and negotiating skills
  • Motivated self-starter, comfortable in fast-paced environment
  • Superior presentation/public speaking skills
  • Manages time effectively and adapts quickly to changing priorities
  • Experience developing and implementing business plans and goals
  • Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards
  • Demonstrated competency in hiring, developing and leading employees to achieve corporate and personal objectives
  • Proven history of profit and loss management to maximize financial performance
  • Problem-solving and analytical ability
