The Contracts Administrator will analyze customer Requests for Proposal / Request for Quotations (RFP/RFQs), coordinate proposal activities, negotiate and administer contracts of sale and other terms of business.  Review and support RFPs/RFQs for both New Business activities and follow-on business capture. Work independently on high dollar value proposals, negotiations and other complex contractual issues. As required, participate on Integrated Program Teams (IPTs) and deliver agreed scope of work within budget and in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and assess risk for proposed new business
  • Ensure new business meets company business objectives; driving “bid/no-bid” business case reviews
  • Contribute to preparation of business cases evaluating investment, profitability and returns of new contracts
  • Host or support proposal kickoff meetings among internal stakeholders
  • Prepare final proposals to submit to customers, both Commercial and Government, in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Truth in Negotiations Act (TINA) as required
  • Serve as liaison between GKN and our customers for pricing and contractual matters
  • Perform Cost and Pricing data analysis to inform decision making at executive levels
  • Develop and maintain historical data to support new proposals; assess basis of estimates (BOE) as compared to actual cost results
  • Develop and execute negotiation plans with customers, including contract definitization schedules as needed
  • Negotiate sales contracts including pricing and other terms of business with customers
  • Prepare non-disclosure and other company agreements where appropriate
  • Negotiating contracts with customers to include risk mitigation provisions (limitation of liability, alternative dispute terms, indemnification, audit terms, change provisions, supplier oversight, etc.) where appropriate
  • Negotiation, coordination, fact finding, and resolution of all issues with the customers pertaining to contractual matters
  • Review all customer Contracts and Purchase Orders and issue internal GKN Work Authorization for distribution throughout the company
  • Contract Administration, including coordination of changes with the customers, reporting as needed, assistance in cash collection and other administrative matters
  • Interact with customers and internal company disciplines to maintain contract compliance
  • Act as a company focal point for external and internal audits
  • Drive customer and internal resources to ensure timely resolution of key Commercial issues
  • Ensure contractual compliance with regulatory obligations
  • Preparation of departmental reporting and review material on a regular basis
  • Participate as a key member of contract change boards
  • Ensure IPT compliance with Commercial Policies & Procedures
  • Foster and own the Commercial team relationship with the customer
  • Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for effective performance.
  • Perform other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Profile

  • Required Education and Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree or in lieu of degree 8 years of related experience.
    • 5 years of experience with contracts, preferably in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
    • U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements
  • Additional Experience and Qualifications
    • Active DOD Security clearance or ability to obtain
    • Demonstrated skills in written and verbal communication, problem analysis, potential problem analysis, decision analysis and planning.
    • Skilled in coaching, team-building, business measurement, continuous improvement and lean manufacturing techniques.
    • Excellent written, verbal and collaboration skills
