The Sr. Contracts Manager will act as a support function for all aspects of the GKN Aerospace Bid Process as well as contract review and negotiations for the Monitor site.

Contract Review: Analyze contract terms and conditions to ensure they are in line with corporate requirements.  Maintain Executive Summaries as a quick-reference for the company.  Ensure all contractual requirements are flowed out to all affected departments.  Assist in the negotiation of future contracts.

Business Development: Develop an in-depth knowledge of company estimating tools and methods, machining capabilities, and product lines; assist in analyzing new business opportunities and help develop those opportunities that strategically benefit the company.  This effort will consist of coordinating with the functional departments, and generating bid packages for corporate level review. This position also involves the management and oversight of engineering changes and terminations through all aspects of the work flow: estimating, liaising with engineering, and interacting with production control, purchasing and finance department.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the bid process: Hold site level reviews to introduce new RFQs for bid/no bid determination
  • Coordinate with the Estimator as well as the functional departments to ensure RFQ requirements and expectations are clarified
  • Ensure proposal components are submitted by the departments in a timely manner
  • Accountable for coordinating, assisting and presenting corporate reviews of proposals as needed
  • Assist in developing solid, winning proposals that showcase the site’s technical and manufacturing capabilities
  • Review all contract amendments
  • Assist in the management of the cost impact process (engineering change orders)
  • Work with the Estimator and Engineering to assess changes
  • Work with production control, purchasing, and finance to ensure all costs (i.e. obsolescence, inventory, etc) are properly account for in cost impacts and terminations
  • Assist in the administration of Export Compliance for the site
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as needed or assigned

Profile

  • Required Qualifications:
    • Bachelor’s degree; or in lieu of degree 10 years of experience in aerospace and/or manufacturing
    • 5 years’ of experience in aerospace and/or manufacturing
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience managing direct reports in a contracts group
    • Knowledge of common commercial contract terms
    • Fluent in MS Office
    • Experience with finance associated with manufacturing a plus
    • Experience with Export Compliance a plus
    • Assertive personality, exemplary communication skills, and a self-starting attitude are paramount for success in this position
