Reaction Engines is seeking a Vehicle Systems Engineer to carry out conceptual design of Sabre powered launch and cruise vehicles, thereby ensuring that engine performance characteristics are matched to vehicle requirements. The purpose of the role is to investigate the technical feasibility and preliminary design of Sabre flight test vehicles and support high speed flight propulsion system studies by supplying generic vehicle concepts and performance modelling.

Responsibilities

  • Project management and reporting of vehicle conceptual design and analysis activities to meet the programme schedule
  • Vehicle mass budgets and payload accounting
  • Liaising with outside customers, industrial and academic partners on vehicle activities
  • Working closely with the Performance & Aerodynamics, Structures and Dynamic Modelling teams
  • Establish develop and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues, contractors and partnering agencies to ensure an integrated contribution to Reaction Engines’ corporate objectives
  • Observe and comply with policies and procedures for Health and Safety at work and observe and continually promote equal opportunities and customer care in compliance with organisational aims and objectives.
  • Participate in learning and development activities that develop personal effectiveness and assist in improving performance in the role.
  • Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required in line with the level of responsibility of the post and in order to meet the changing needs of the organisation

Profile

Experience

  • Essential:
    • Broad knowledge of aircraft and rocket vehicle and propulsion system engineering
    • Aerospace industry or academic experience essential
  • Desirable:
    • Project and contract management experience

Qualifications

  • Essential:
    • Degree and/or PhD in Aeronautical or Mechanical engineering
