GKN Aerospace in Portsmouth supply an extensive range of products for different types of fixed and rotary wing aircrafts, land vehicles, missiles, UAVs, torpedoes and marine vessels for Fuel and Flotation markets.

GKN Aerospace Portsmouth are now recruiting for a Supplier Quality Engineer that will be reporting to the Site Quality Compliance Manager, the Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for Quality oversight of the supplier base in accordance with requirements of the site Quality Management System and the  GKN Aerospace Policy Management System (APMS).

Responsibilities

• Carry out supplier approval assessments and maintain the site Approved Suppliers List.
• Conduct on-site supplier audits and supplier advanced product quality palnning (APQP).
• Monitor overall and individual supplier quality performance and manage supplier RCCA and improvement activities.
• Promote the use of customer preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke, Measurement System Analysis and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis.
• Assist with First Article Inspection approvals and Production Part Approval Process.

Profile

Formal Qualifications

• HNC or equivalent in Engineering or Manufacturing discipline

Specific Functional Capabilities, knowledge and skills required

• Strong background in Supplier Quality managerment within a high tech manufacturing environment (Aerospace/Tier one automotive)
• CI/Lean trained, including the application and usage of various structured practical problem solving techniques throughout the internal and external supply chain.
• Familiar with AS9100D, EASA Part 21G and Part 145 regulatory approvals
• Additional experience of AQPQ, PPAP, 8D, SPC and MSA would be advantageous
