About this job

The Procurement Specialist reports directly to the Senior Manager of Indirect Spend and works directly with Buyers and other members of the procurement team, as well as cross-functionally with the organization and externally with suppliers and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development, implementation and execution of assigned category strategies.
  • Execute purchasing arrangements for indirect categories in support of the business strategy and plan.
  • Identifies suppliers and arranges optimal contracts in terms of pricing, quality, timing, and supply availability over the term of the contract.
  • Integrate the project scope and requirements, develops request for quotations and proposals, analyzes supplier response, negotiates, awards contracts and manages post-award supplier activities.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms and commercial conditions of agreements and manage through the contract lifecycle.
  • Conduct timely reviews with suppliers to measure performance against contractual standards and performance expectations.
  • Develop and maintain long term relationships with suppliers to ensure a high quality level and reliable source of supplies and information.
  • Provide category expertise to internal stakeholders and serve as a liaison to operational functions for assigned categories.
  • Coordinate with global commodity managers, cross-divisional strategic sourcing teams, and local purchasing team to create and implement commodity strategies for El Cajon.
  • Responsible for identifying commodity improvement projects, compiling relative data, carrying out the sourcing process from RFQ, supplier risk assessments, supplier selection, and contract implementation prior to handing back to site purchasing team
  • Responsible for managing suppliers’ contractual KPI’s, and strategic performance objectives to ensure suppliers are meeting/exceeding all objectives.
  • Achieve site delivery, quality, savings, and inventory objectives by implementing strategic contracts, while developing and maintaining competitive supply base.
  • Support with all strategic related SIOP (Sales Inventory Operations Planning) actions and processes

Profile

  • Required Qualifications
    • 7+ years of experience in Procurement, including experience in indirect commodity purchasing, required.
    • Experience with MS Word, MS Excel and procurement, project management systems/software required.
    • U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements.
  • Preferred Qualifications
    • APICS (CPMP) preferred.- Aerospace industry experience preferred.
    • Bachelor’s in engineering or business, Operations Management or Supply Chain Management preferred.
    • Strong negotiations skills, contractual knowledge and understanding of how supply chain impacts the financial metrics of the business.
    • Experience developing and deploying a category strategies across a regional and global organization.
    • Strong analytical ability to engage and actively manage diverse and complex procurement and ERP systems.
    • Attention to detail with clear ability to see the bigger picture.
    • Demonstrated advanced analytical and negotiation skills.
    • GKN experience preferred.
