About this job

As AOCS Engineer, you will follow AOCS-related activities on D-Orbit spacecraft, following the whole subsystem lifecycle, including algorithms development, testing, and deployment. You will be asked to design and develop the subsystem, coordinating with system engineering; manage technical data exchanges with suppliers;  follow prototyping and engineering activities up to subsystem qualification. You will also take part in AIV of flight model and support operations from mission setup to in-flight AOCS testing and maintenance.

The strong initial focus of this position will be precise real-time orbit determination and control, with applications to proximity operations or Earth Observation missions.

Responsibilities

  • Top-level design and requirements definition, starting from mission and payload requirements;
  • Detailed AOCS system and operation design and verification, coordinating with the rest of the spacecraft system and subsystems;
  • Subsystem modules, sensors and actuators definition, and procurement. Activities might include design, prototyping, testing and manufacturing of in-house developed hardware or technical support to the selection, procurement and acceptance of third-party supplied items;
  • AOCS mode, algorithm, and control design;
  • Development and simulation of AOCS determination and control algorithm;
  • Support to orbital operations of AOCS subsystem;
  • Authoring of Technical documents.

Profile

  • Knowledge of spacecraft System Engineering;
  • At least two years of working experience in AOCS/GNC or Ph.D. education in relevant subjects;
  • Proficiency with online and offline system estimation and model identification techniques;
  • Proficiency with control techniques;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • Proactive attitude and ability to work in a team and individually;
  • Knowledge of precise orbit determination and control is a strong plus;
  • Experience in CubeSat and/or Minisat projects is a strong plus;
  • Advanced University degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) preferably in Aerospace/Space Engineering or Automation Engineering;
  • Full professional proficiency in the English language is mandatory.
