Job Summary

The Parts Responsible Engineer (PRE) role is responsible for robust manufacturing process selection, implementation and control of products, and reporting status of the assigned products to meet stakeholder requirements within GKN Aerospace, CT (MCR).

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the manufacturing process, procedures and production layouts, processing machining and material handling.
  • Responsible for APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) implementation within product family
  • Strong understanding of the following standards with ability to ensure compliance to customer requirements.
    • AS9100 – Aviation, Space, and Defense Quality Management Systems Requirements
    • AS9145 – Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
    • AS9102 – First Article Inspection (FAI)
    • AS9103 – Variation Management of Key Characteristicso AS13000 – Problem Solving (8D)
    • AS13003 – Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA)
    • AS13004 – Process Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (PFMEA) and Control Plans
    • AS13006 – Process Control Methods (including Statistical Process Control (SPC))
  • Designs sequence of operations and specifies procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance to reach business case hours and cost.
  • Responsible for building inspection and test requirements into the production plan.
  • Selects tools to verify their efficiency and performs root cause investigations, initiates corrective action of problems and deficiencies to ensure product quality, and report non-conformances to customer.
  • Provides guidance to engineering regarding design concepts and specification requirements to best utilize equipment and manufacturing techniques.
  • Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations.
  • Acts as technical expert for the assigned product, both internally and externally to suppliers and customer.
  • Provides engineering estimates for business cases for similar product / product families.
  • Responsible for the in process modelling (using Siemens NX).
  • Responsible for the operation sequence list and operation sheets for the assigned products.
  • Performs other duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

Profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Manufacturing/Mechanical Engineering / related field, or in lieu of a degree 6+ years of experience in Manufacturing and Engineering industry will be considered.
  • 4+ years Knowledge of NC programming and machining methods.
  • 4+ years of experience with CAD software, NX Unigraphics preferred.
  • U.S. Person per ITAR regulations to comply with export compliance and site SSA requirements.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  Six Sigma Black Belt or Lean Training Preferred.
  • Aerospace environment preferred.
  • Able to demonstrate the ability to work, and deliver, under own initiative.
