Fokker Elmo Engineering performed EWIS design and development projects, such as the F-35 Lightning II (JSF), the Airbus A380, A320NEO, A330NEO, Boeing 787, Bombardier CSeries and numerous engine programs, such as the P&WC Geared turbofan.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be involved from the beginning until the end of the electronics life cycle, such as support of the technology development, product design & development, integration and sustaining activities of electronics for customers in the aerospace world.

This involves analyzing design requirements, mastering the electronics design process, evaluating the quality of design work performed by subcontractors, management of the verification activities at test houses and solving sustaining electronics design- and manufacturing issues.

You will be part of a small Engineering electronics design team (2 seniors excluding yourself) and will report to the Lead Engineer, within the applicable design and development project(s). The position will be based at Fokker Elmo in Hoogerheide, but may require some business travel from time to time.

Profile

Technical Qualifications (Hard skills):

  • Design processes and methods / standards awareness.
  • Requirement definition / validation and Means of Compliance.
  • Knowledge of (International) design drawing standards and methods.
  • Electronics component selection.
  • Electronics circuit / PCB & housing design process (experience with DO-254 is a pre).
  • Electronics Hardware – Software integration.
  • Creation of electronics prototype and series product definitions.
  • Specification of third party workpackages (PCB, Electronics, Housing, Testplans).
  • Review of electronics circuit design (delivered by subcontracted parties).
  • Creation of functional verification and acceptance test procedures.
  • Functional- and Environmental verification of Electronics (plan, procedure, testing, reporting).
  • Sustaining support of products which are in the series manufacturing phase (obsolescence).
  • Awareness of Substances of Very High Concern (i.e. REACh regulations).

Soft skills:

  • Assertiveness: Willingness to learn and to broaden own knowledge. Active attitude in identifying risks; mitigations and contributing (support) to continuous improvement of processes and procedures.
  • Teamwork: Able to work constructively in a small team taking responsibility for assigned tasks and able to instruct and coach subcontractors in achieving team targets and program/project deadlines.
  • Results-driven: Able to plan own work and that of the team members in line with project schedules, reports progress regularly and timely in the event of (potential) issues or delays.
  • Communication: Fluent Dutch and English language skills, verbal and in writing. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely (including technical reports) in a convincing manner with flair / forthcomingness.
