Boeing Defence UK (BDUK) is a subsidiary of the Boeing Company and currently employs over 1,500 people in the UK. BDUK is responsible for delivering several exciting contracts to our UK defence customers including many training services.

The successful candidate shall be responsible for the management and supervision of the AHTS (Attack Helicopter Training Service) training equipment technicians at the Middle Wallop and Wattisham sites as well as oversight and coordination of all associated engineering activities.

This key role will report to the Head of Training Engineering but provide day to day support to the AHTS site based Training Managers and the Yeovil based AHTS Training Service Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Manage employees performing engineering activities within AHTS.
  • Oversee maintenance of and upgrades to training equipment and the AHTS facility.
  • Develop and execute project and process plans, implements policies and procedures and sets operational goals.
  • Acquire resources for projects and processes, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements as required.
  • Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
  • Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes and provide technical guidance to resolve engineering issues.
  • Ensure safe operation of the equipment and a safe working environment.
  • Manage, develop and motivate employees.

Profile

  • Relevant engineering degree is preferred or demonstrable experience in a similar management role within a military or commercial aviation environment.
  • Experience in managing a training equipment support team.
  • Sound knowledge of support engineering processes, policies, procedures and practices.
  • Detailed knowledge of the Apache aircraft is desirable but not essential.
  • Regular travel between the Yeovil, Middle Wallop and Wattisham sites will be required.
