Reaction Engines is looking for a Business Development Manager to join the team on a full time, permanent basis working. The Applied Technologies team is commercialising revolutionary thermal management technologies developed on the SABRE programme into exciting markets including motorsport, electric transport, aerospace and power generation. This key role is to lead all aspects of business development within Applied Technologies.

Our technology is truly unique with the ability to enable a step change for our customers, so we are looking for someone who has a technical background and can understand how to maximise value by intelligently targeting opportunities. The role is not a sales manager role selling commodities or services.

Responsibilities

As a core team member, you will work closely with the Applied Technologies Director, Commercial Manager and Sector Leads in delivering a sales strategy to increase the company’s revenue targets through direct sales, licence agreements, partnerships and strategic alliances.

Accountabilities & responsibilities

  • Lead all BD activities within the scope of Applied Technologies:
    • Develop a broad external network and build effective relationships with new and existing partners and customers across the Motorsport, Energy, Aerospace and Electric Transport sectors.
    • Find, assess, and promote new business opportunities by understanding the technology fit and value to the customer.
    • Lead the bid management process for new opportunities, working with the rest of the team.
    • Manage the creation of the bid deliverables and ensuring review and governance, leading to the creation of high quality proposals.
    • Lead market research analysis to inform commercialisation strategy, technology drivers, and financial projections.
    • Support wider financial planning and projections, competitor and market analysis with support from Commercial and Marketing teams.
    • Coordinate business cases and proposals for presentation to the Executive Leadership Team, Board and Investors.
    • Develop pricing models for our technology and products.
    • Work alongside Marketing to ensure appropriate and focused marketing effort and campaigns.
  • Support the Applied Technologies Director with defining and implementing commercialisation strategies.
  • Be part of the AT core team, contributing to the development of resource, processes, toolsets.
  • Plan, coordinate and deliver strategic planning, business development and sales activities for Applied Technologies.
  • Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required in line with the level of responsibility of the post and in order to meet the changing needs of the organisation.

Profile

Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience within a business development role with proven success.
  • Previous experience working within a product based technology company.
  • Experienced with the bid/tender process.
  • Experienced in writing business development strategies / business plans.
  • ​​​​​​​Experience writing business cases and proposals both in R&D and commerical product environment

Desirable

  • Taking new, disruptive products to market.
  • Technology start-up / spin out growth business experience.
  • Performing research into the market, customer trends, and competition in the market.
  • Experience in one or more of the following fields:   Electric vehicle battery systems, power generation, motorsport, aircraft systems.
  • ​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Global/culture experience in a techno-commerical enviroment

Qualifications

Essential

  • Scientific or engineering degree or equivalent experience in a technical domain

Desirable

  • Business accreditation such as MBA.
