About this job

The Control Systems Engineer II filling this role should be capable of low-level design and integration of embedded closed-loop control systems, as well as high-level theoretical optimal control of MIMO systems. The position will work across multiple projects concurrently, and is expected to be a thought leader on algorithm and technology development for robotics and manufacturing in space.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate and program a complete control system at the low level, including sensors, actuators, command GUI, and external command interface.
  • Perform full design cycle control system development, including control system architecture development, control system requirements definition, control system integration, control system safety assessment, control system integration testing (model-in-the-loop and hardware-in-the-loop simulation), and issue tracking and resolution.
  • Perform modeling, simulation, and analysis of systems and subsystems as needed.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to create integrated products.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:  This is a full-time position requiring a minimum of 40 hours per week.

TRAVEL:  Minimal travel is expected for this position.

WORK AUTHORIZATION/SECURITY CLEARANCE:  ITAR Requirements: This position requires special security screenings to conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, which may include the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.  The U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship only.

Profile

 EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineer.
  • 2+ years of professional experience as a Control Systems Engineer.

 

SKILLS:

  • Experience in multidisciplinary system modeling, simulation, and analysis.
  • Experience with MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Proficient in C or C++ for embedded devices.
  • Knowledgeable in thermal sensing and control.
  • Strong fundamental knowledge in advanced control techniques: LQR, Kalman Filtering, non-linear modeling and control, spacecraft dynamics, robotic kinematic analysis.
  • Nice to have: ROS, Gazebo, SolidWorks, UART, UDP, Linux, Git version control.
