Reaction Engines is looking for a Project Manager to join the team on a full time, permanent basis working.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the successful delivery of internal and external projects to meet customer expectations and Reaction Engines’ business objectives
  • Act as the prime project interface to customers
  • Create and maintain a Project budget and master schedule and drive projects through to completion with cross-functional teams
  • Create and maintain a Risk Register to identify key project and product risk areas; and develop and track mitigating actions for the team
  • Negotiate and acquire the necessary resources to achieve the project objectives
  • Track and report on progress to plan (time, cost and quality); insure KPIs are maintained and reported on a regular basis
  • Establish and communicate clear priorities among project activities
  • Keep all stakeholders informed of progress and issues; support Programme status reviews to customer and RE Senior Management
  • Involve functional expertise in design reviews and key decisions as well as risk strategies
  • Manage change to preserve business plan commitments. Initiate Phase Reviews if objectives must change
  • Contribute to the development, definition and implementation of winning bid strategies around customer evaluation criteria to maximise profit and deliverability, whilst minimising risk to the overall business
  • Work with the business development and engineering to understand the major strategic opportunities that are emerging
  • Bid Management
    • manage bid requirements,
    • manage the bid review (bid/no bid) process for new opportunities
    • Manage bid team and inputs (cost, time, scope) from a variety of stakeholders, typically involving contributions from clients and business development, engineering, supply chain, finance, commercial/legal
    • prepare commercial aspects of bids, including the identification and mitigation of contractual risk through collaboration with the internal commercial team
    • Manage the timely development and delivery of bids
    • Arrange post bid reviews and hand-over to project execution where contract is awarded.
  • Establish develop and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues, contractors and partnering agencies to ensure an integrated contribution to Reaction Engines’ corporate objectives
  • Observe and comply with all company policies and procedures including Health and Safety at Work; ; contribute to the development of processes as the company grows
  • Observe and continually promote equal opportunities and customer care in compliance with organisational aims and objectives.
  • Participate in learning and development activities that develop personal effectiveness and assist in improving performance in the role.
  • Undertake any other duties as may reasonably be required in line with the level of responsibility of the post and in order to meet the changing needs of the organisation

Profile

Experience

Essential

  • Demonstrated experience of working in a relevant technical industry (aerospace, energy and/or ground-based transport development), with a demonstrable track record of successful project / bid delivery with proven project management ability.
  • Experience in a commercial environment
  • A minimum of 5 years’ previous experience in project / bid management
  • Experience managing customers both technically and commercially to ensure costs, delivery and quality are clear at all times

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a matrix organisation

Qualifications

Essential

  • A recognised project management qualification
  • An engineering degree or  equivalent experience in a business or technically related discipline

Desirable

  • An additional business, management or science degree would be an advantage
