Roke is a world-class technology and engineering consultancy. Roke delivers advanced research, development services and products to high profile customers who come to Roke with varied and challenging problems to solve.

We are now looking for an advanced level apprentice to join the IT team to support the business. You will have an exciting and busy role with opportunities for progression within the team and the business as a whole. Your duties will be varied, as you join us in working to support our engineering teams as they deliver ground breaking projects within the fields of autonomy, connectivity, data analytics and cyber. These challenging development roles combine practical on the job training alongside studying towards an Infrastructure Technician Level 3 qualification with QA.

Responsibilities

Your working week will be varied but typical roles and responsibilities will include:

  • Dealing with IT related enquires via the telephone.
  • Logging calls for incidents and problems.
  • Attending face to face request for IT support.
  • Problem solving on IT related incidents and problems.
  • Monitoring of the IT email inbox and allocation of tasks.
  • Commissioning of IT and associated equipment
  • Provide support to other members of the IT team.

Profile

Skills, Knowledge & Attitudes

  • Excellent written and spoken English and a confident communicator
  • Good IT skills (Windows 10, MS Word, Excel, Power-point, e-mail)
  • Minimum 5 GCSE’s at grades A*-C (9-4) including Maths and English
  • Self-starter, able to work proactively whilst unattended, punctual, reliable and conscientious.

 

You will benefit from coaching and support from the IT Manager and Senior Group Manager within IT as well as other members of the IT team, this apprenticeship is for a period of 18 months and will therefore, be open to applicants wishing to undertake an intermediate or advanced apprenticeship and attend training/education on day release or in house.

Due to the nature of this position, candidates must be willing and eligible to achieve HMG SC and DV clearance. As a result, candidates should ideally be a British Citizen however you can hold another nationality and have resided in the UK for the last 5 years.
