QinetiQ are seeking a Principal Systems Engineer who will be responsible for the overall technical delivery of key defence programmes within our secure data and information systems capability, acting as the Technical Lead for the delivery, maintenance and upgrade of secure military data management systems that collate, manipulate and distribute data to gain an understanding of the environment as part of shared situational awareness.

QinetiQ’s cyber, information, research and experimentation community includes industry leading engineers and scientists who design, deliver and upgrade complex information and data systems, providing systems and services which underpin our sovereign capability in defence and civilian information service. We are heavily involved with innovative projects, such as simulated and synthetic training systems, complex distributed exercises and unmanned or autonomous systems development. As a Principal Systems Engineer within this community you will be technically leading complex programmes through the full engineering lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate high-level engineering activities, working alongside customers, stakeholders and programme managers; mitigating risk, advising and delivering solutions. Leading the full engineering lifecycle you will be leading, delivering and reviewing systems engineering artefacts, such as requirements, architectures, designs and interface definitions, integration and verification activities in addition to certification and customer acceptance.
• Definition and delivery of technical work plans, systems requirements, resources and tasks, working closely with the programme manager on schedule, budget, risks, dependencies and constraints.
• Deliver design documentation and reports, and ensure that the technical solution meets appropriate security, information and engineering standards.
• Proactively contribute to the development of the secure networks, information management and systems engineering professional communities, including application of agile principles.

Profile

• Proven application of Systems Engineering approach through technical delivery lifecycle
• Knowledge of multi-level security and protective monitoring
• Experience with Virtualisation, Microsoft Server, routing and firewalls
• Information, data and message flows; interfaces and analytics
• Secure network components, system design and configuration
• Solution design and development; analytical, logical and systems thinking skills
• Planning for integration, test, certification, trials and acceptance
• SC Clearance to apply and willing to obtain higher clearances
