Due to continued expansion of the business, we have a great opportunity for a Software Safety Engineer to support the whole software development life cycle across several projects. You will be part of our friendly software intensive systems engineering team, which works to deliver a wide variety of challenging solutions across a number of sectors and clients.This is an ideal opportunity for a software engineer who has an eye for detail and appreciates the value in applying due process. The ideal candidate will have some experience, a positive outlook and relish the opportunity to make a difference delivering challenging software delivery projects.

Responsibilities

Main Responsibilities will include:

  • Gathering evidence of code quality.
  • Verifying code conformance to standards.
  • Maintaining a requirements trace matrix.
  • Monitoring conformance to project processes.
  • Contributing to reports and safety documentation.

Supplementary Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting software development teams, e.g. by writing tests,developing test harnesses.
  • Supporting Quality Assurance controls across the software life-cycle.

Profile

Essential requirements for this role:

  • Hold a degree in Computer Science, Software Eng, Systems Eng or Safety Engineering.
  • Be conscientious and able to work in deep technical detail.
  • Have a can-do attitude, driven to support whole-team success.
  • Knowledge of Software and Safety.
  • Comfortable with working on Defence projects.

The following are preferred, but not essential, training will be provided where necessary:

  • Familiarity with software safety standards, e.g. DO178C, ISO/IEC61508-3, 60511, Def-Stan 00-56.
  • Experience of software development or design, preferably including real-time / embedded solutions.
  • Experience of Safety Critical solution delivery.
  • Experience from the defence, aerospace or automotive sectors.
  • Prior experience of working to recognized quality standards, processes and procedures. E.g. ISO9001, ISO61508, TickIT plus, ISO 12207
