Responsibilities

We have a number of positions for creative, forward-thinking, and passionate Data Scientists to be clustered with our Data Science team in Gloucester.

Your projects will be diverse – working with varying clients, across a number of sectors, using a range of skills. Consequently, we are looking for individuals able to work flexibly across projects in different domains. You might apply your skills to rapidly prototype new approaches & solutions. Equally, you may apply them to complement or advance existing solutions.Innovation is at the core of what we do. You will be encouraged to contribute to Roke’s innovation process by devising ideas for products/ techniques, developing other people’s ideas & your own.

You will belong to a community in which to engage about best practice, emerging technologies & CPD.

Profile

As a Data Scientist, you will have a degree level qualification in a STEM subject, or you will have an education and level of experience which is comparable.

Depending on your level of ability/experience, you will have familiarity, competence or expertise in a subset of these areas:

• One or more programming languages: Python, C++, Java, etc.
• Data Science frameworks and libraries: Keras, Tensorflow, scikit-learn, OpenCV, OpenNLP, NLTK, etc.
• Knowledge of Machine Learning fundamentals: Mathematics, Statistics, Supervised/Unsupervised Machine Learning, Deep Learning, etc.
• Tools and techniques for data cleansing, preparation, fusion, streaming, analysis and visualisation
• Software Engineering tools and techniques:  Modelling, design patterns, debugging, unit testing, documentation, Version Control, automation, etc.
• Cloud/aaS infrastructure:  AWS, Azure, OpenStack, etc.

Beyond your technical skills, you will be proactive and able to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders. You will work well alone or as part of a team and grasp opportunities. You will be curious and seek out the best approach/solution/tool for the job at hand.

Security

Due to the nature of this position, candidates must already hold current Developed Vetted Clearance or at least be willing and eligable to obtain this. As a result, candidates should ideally be a British Citizen and have resided in the UK for the last 10 years.

We will provide you with assistance in transferring your clearance, as well as, we also offer a high level clearance bonus.
