We have a great opportunity for an experienced quality assurance engineer to join our friendly well-established engineering business based in Dukinfield. The role will provide technical and functional excellence within manufacturing and quality to ensure all existing and new products, and process introductions, are delivered on time and meet pre-defined quality and budgetary performance metrics.

Responsibilities

Quality:

  • Reporting to the Principal Quality Engineer to deliver on the strategic requirements to move the business forward.
  • Ensure all TP Group Dukinfield manufacturing processes are in alignment with the necessary standards.
  • Responsible for business adherence to ISO-9001:2015, ISO-14001:2015 &ISO-18001:2007 (Transition to OHSAS-45001)
  • To establish/support quality policies and procedures that are followed throughout the business that contribute to consistent high-class performance in all areas.
  • Maintaining an excellent knowledge of all relevant aspects of quality engineering, including legislation, ASME VIII standards and material codes,liaising as necessary with regulatory bodies, and proactively advising the company on the best course of action.
  • Support quality inspection to the preparation and execution of quality plans for company products or projects.
  • Support quality inspection in the identification and control of all nonconforming products
  • Manage product and process non-conformance issues to ensure effective corrective actions are taken to achieve a level of zero recurrence
  • Develop and monitor production cell/factory quality performance metrics and initiate improvement plans when appropriate
  • Work in parallel with the quality inspector to ensure continuity in the quality function for all factory-manufacturing needs.
  • Be responsible for all Quality Standard Certification including, ASME VIII,PD5500, ISO 9001/18001/14001, Fit 4 Nuclear, etc.
  • Alignment of Management Systems (ISO9001:2015, ISO14001:2015 &ISO/OHSAS 18001:2007)
  • Conducting internal/external audits against company audit schedule inc.various management system maintenance
  • Transition to OHSAS:45001:2018 Maintenance of LOLER System
  • Non conformity reporting and root cause analysis Calibration of company assets
  • Provides technical quality engineering support to the program teams ensuring appropriate control mechanisms are implemented and suitable risk analysis is performed to validate the effectiveness of controls – ensuring the use of appropriate tools to include but not limited to:o MITP/quality planso Process flowso FMEA’so Control planning Initial process studies
  • Drive best practice in root cause and problem solving adoption in current techniques such as 8D, fishbone diagrams, fault tree analysis etc.
  • Ability to conduct thorough risk assessments and COSHH assessments
  • Observe safety standards on methods, equipment, machinery & chemicals,both at TP Group, customer and supplier sites.
  • Determine best practice manufacturing processes required to achieve manufacturing goals according to product specification
  • Work with Engineering to identify problems with product and performance -may recommend solutions or enhancements

 

Manufacturing Responsibilities:

  • Establish and maintain preferred supplier partnerships on equipment, tooling and gauging
  • Work with Engineering to identify problems with product and performance -may recommend solutions or enhancements.
  • Undertake process trial work as required to assess processes
  • Work to improve equipment availability and capability by utilising continuous improvement tools and working cross functionally.
  • Lead activities to reduce process variation and improve machine and process capability
  • Ensure involvement from operational areas in all new and changed processes at both proposal and implementation stages
  • Seek out novel solutions for manufacturing processes and identify areas of potential to improve and identify and agree action plans to accomplish this

 

General activities

  • Carry out any other ad-hoc duties as required to support the needs of the business
  • Maintenance and alignment of management systems
  • Conduct internal and external audits in line with company audit schedules
  • Provide a professional backup service for colleagues during peak times or during absence
  • Follow/maintain company procedures, standards and regulatory requirements
  • Continuous improvement of contribution to the company
  • Act as an ambassador for the company in all interactions with customers and the public

Profile

Essential Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience within nuclear, defence and oil and gas industryan advantage
  • ASME VIII, ISO: 9001, F4N, 14001, 45001, etc.
  • Management system transition and alignment
  • New product and process introductions
  • Knowledge of MoD DefStans and DefCons
  • SQEP to meet customer requirements Competent understanding of quality tools process flows, control planning, etc.
  • Experience of quality control techniques
  • Knowledge of manufacturing techniques and process application
  • Knowledge of reviewing material certificate to applicable codes and standards
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years quality experience within an engineeringenvironment.

 

Preferred but not essential:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a critical application sector such as aerospace, defence, automotive or energy
  • Trained auditor / Lead auditor
  • IOSH or NEBOSH qualification
  • Lean Six Sigma Qualification (Green Belt)
  • Degree qualified in a related discipline (or suitable engineering experience).
  • Experience of quality standards including ISO-9001:2015, ISO-14001:2015 &ISO-18001:2007 (Transition to OHSAS-45001 and PD5500
  • Experience of working within an environment including fabrication, CNC machining, CMM operation plus assembly and test work.
  • Active participant within new product introduction programmes
  • Third level qualification in Engineering, Quality or other related field
