About this job

The Test & Commissioning Technician is required to install, commission, test and subsequently maintain equipment at TP Group (Portsmouth) and on-site when required.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up, configure and test existing equipment ensuring that equipment works to its specification
  • Carrying out activities in line with the company’s test procedures
  • Investigating problems, diagnosing/repairing faults
  • Install, commission, test and subsequently maintain equipment at TP Group(Portsmouth)and on site when required
  • Work with engineering and technical staff to develop new and existing equipment
  • Ensure documentation and test results are recorded as required
  • Feedback design and maintenance issues to appropriate personnel
  • Run system demonstrations
  • To control and maintain professional standards within the test areas

Profile

Essential Requirements:

  • Ability to read and understand drawings
  • Decision-making / problem solving skills
  • Strong self-management and organisation skills, and attention to detail
  • Strong presentation skills, confident speaker and professionally presented when interacting with customers
  • Flexible, enthusiastic individual who is self-motivated and able to work well under own initiative
  • Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Must be a team player

Preferred but not essential:

  • HNC/HND in Electrical / Mechanical Engineering
  • Time served apprenticeship
  • Experience of working within a Defence environment
  • Knowledge of Naval standards
  • Ability to use Microsoft suite, and analyse data within Excel

Other requirements:

  • Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK.
  • Candidates will need to undergo an internal BPSS check prior to gaining site access.
  • Candidates will also need to either hold a current SC clearance or be willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance check (SC level) upon starting their employment with the company. To gain SC clearance you will normally need at least 5 years’ UK residency
  • Some travel to dockyards in the UK & overseas may occasionally be required
