Responsibilities

The role is based at our manufacturing facility in Wiltshire to support our rugged server and storage system business – and future product development – serving the defence and industrial sectors. We are rapidly expanding and are recruiting for a sales engineer to join the team and assist in driving the business forwards.The primary function of the role will be to support the sales and business development team with incoming enquiries by creating technical responses. This will require building strong internal and customer relationships. The sale approach is consultative – working with engineering teams to create bespoke solutions to be fully compliant against the required specifications.You will be responsible for providing detailed quotes, bids and compliance matrices as well as managing sales opportunities through the company QM system. You will work very closely with the technical engineering, design and bid management teams,and will help shape the future product roadmap using feedback from industry.

Profile

  • The ideal candidate will come from an applications engineering / technical background with either some sales experience or an interest in moving into a sales role.
  • Experience or interest in building PCs or gaming rigs – or knowledge of general computer architecture is hugely desirable. Familiarity with the defence industry and relevant environmental and EMC military standards (e.g. MIL-STD-810 & MIL-STD-461) would be very beneficial, but not essential.
  • You should be confident, with strong interpersonal and communication skills and have the ability to manage and prioritise multiple projects concurrently. Keen attention to detail is vital due to the level of technical information you will be required to accurately convey to the customer.
  • Due to the nature of the product, extensive on-the-job training and a robust mentoring / shadowing period will apply.
  • Some infrequent visits to customer / group sites and supporting exhibitions will be required – therefore a valid UK driving license and passport is essential.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Other requirements:

  • Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK.
  • Candidates will need to undergo an internal BPSS check prior to gaining site access.
  • Candidates will also need to either hold a current SC clearance or be willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance check (SC level) upon starting their employment with the company. To gain SC clearance you will normally need at least 5 years’ UK residency.
