Responsibilities

The Role:

As part of the IT Support team, the successful candidate will learn to provide world class support to our ever-expanding Internal Customer base in the UK and potentially across the world. They will learn all aspects of IT desktop Support, System Maintenance, Networking Technologies, Cyber Security and other business tools in a fast-moving, agile environment. Through internal and external training and work experience, they will learn and develop knowledge and skills that will equip them fora career path in one of the most in-demand vocations today.

Responsibilities will include:

TP Group operates multiple business types across 8 UK sites and 6 European offices, supported by an IT Team based in Farnborough. Reporting to the IT Support Team Leader, the apprentice will learn about the processes and structures that support a multi-site, multi-type modern business and the business systems and infrastructure that enable and support its operation. This learning will commence in year one alongside an Infrastructure Technician Advanced apprenticeship scheme and, subject to successful completion and sound progress, will continue throughout their career, embracing business change driven new requirements and new technologies and forming part of an overall Personal Development programme. It is probable that in response to emerging aptitude and preferences and business needs, a degree of specialisation will occur, possible from year 3 onwards.

  • Typical initial responsibilities will include:
    • Setting up new machines to a defined specification
    • Adding and activating software as required
    • Creating User Profiles in Active Directory and Exchange
    • Setting up folder permissions for new users
    • Learning the maintenance routines for systems and infrastructure

Profile

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 GCSE’s grade A-C (4-9) including Maths, English and Computer Science

Other requirements:

  • Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK.
  • Candidates will need to undergo an internal BPSS check prior to gaining site access.
  • Candidates will also need to either hold a current SC clearance or be willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance check (SC level) upon starting their employment with the company. To gain SC clearance you will normally need at least 5 years’ UK residency.
