  • Lead a multi-disciplined, cross company (Leonardo, BAES) and geographically dispersed team employed in an off-site working environment at RAF Coningsby and RAF Lossiemouth and various deployments.
  • Co-ordinate manage and plan deployments, including RAF operational, routine and trials deployments regularly advising the RAF and TES management.
  • Manage resource utilisation across the TES Technical Support team, advising the TES management of issues. Tracking workload to ensure that resources are meeting requirements and completing tasks on budget and on time.
  • Ensure all aspects of the JAS philosophy are delivered and carried out by the Enhanced Technical Support Team (ETS).
  • Delivery of the end to end Technical Support process at RAF Coningsby and RAF Lossiemouth, ensuring that common operating systems are in place at both stations and that they are fit for purpose to meet the JAS performance requirements.
  • Provide functional management for the Leonardo Technical Support Team including Individual Performance Development.
  • Manage and co-ordinate both SHE and training requirements across the FSR team including cross-training of DASS and Radar ML1 personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Augment the strategic relationships held by the JAS. Provide detailed reporting and performance metrics for Technical Support Team into the TES Management to support Operational Performance Reviews to JAS Senior Management.
  • Manage the Technical Support Work Package for the Leonardo JAS elements, reporting on a monthly basis to the TES Deputy Manager and Leonardo JAS Project Manager.
  • Collate and perform initial assessments for Technical Support inputs for Product Optimisation candidates which could benefit delivery of the JAS.
  • Provide coordination, direction and management to the Technical Support Team, ensuring they are delivering the service as required and the relevant metrics for No Fault Found (NFF) and Non Accountable Arising’s (NAA) reduction are being delivered. Provide diagnostic advice and support to RAF Ground Crew to improve maintenance activities.
  • Provide strong leadership to the Team and direct resources as required to meet the JAS requirements.
  • Promote a ‘one team’ behaviour and work ethic within the Technical Support team to work closely with the Avionics Repair Centre Team at ML2, ensuring a seamless handover from aircraft rejection into the repair cell, maintaining good lines of communication throughout the repair process and ensuring post repair that root cause has been addressed prior to returning the serviceable unit to the Customer.
  • Co-ordinate support/advice as required to the Forward and Depth Teams to aid rectification thus reducing NFF/NAA’s
  • Ensure advice and support is technically sound and is underwritten by design authority or from an approved source. Maintain and promote a positive and professional image of the company and service of themselves and within the team at all times.
  • Lead the preparation of work cost estimates to support bids (contract amendments and/or in support of deployed operations) for the JAS Technical Support team.
  • Continually monitor and report on the performance delivered by the Technical Support Team to the TES Management, highlighting and/or addressing any performance issues that could impact the delivery of the JAS.
  • Co-ordinate and manage the Technical Support Team to carry out re-active asset gateway activities to prevent assets entering the supply chain without correct ML1 paperwork and/or sufficient diagnostics being performed. Reducing items held in quarantine, reducing NFF’s and improving asset availability.
  • Provide and collate input to in service Performance review sessions, highlighting problems observed at ML1/Depth which could be used to develop product optimisation candidates to improve LRIs, systems and processes.
  • Co-ordinate and chair sessions with SENGOs and Avionics Trade Managers to understand their issues and also advise them of problems or new developments relating to the equipment.

Profile

  • Candidate should be flexible with regards to working pattern and location to ensure Manpower and resources are maintained through periods of leave, absence etc.
  • Available for cross training on other Avionics products, FSR Activities and further tasks as required.
  • Good Leadership skills as well as a good team player who is comfortable dealing with issues on the flight-line or chairing meetings for senior stakeholders.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Good IT Proficiency i.e. Microsoft Packages, Excel, etc.
  • Eligible for Security Clearance, up to DV.
  • Proficient in using SAP manage work packages.
  • Qualified to HND/HNC or equivalent qualification/experience in Electronic Engineering or related subjects.
  • Depth and Forward maintenance experience essential.
  • Previous FSR experience desirable.
