About this job

Responsible for the support and administration of the technical team inclusive of design engineers, project engineers, and production. Creation of part code input into MRP, construction and maintenance of bill of materials (BOM) issue updates.

Review of both new and old drawing packs with respect to PDM and fulfilling supporting role of drawing quality checks. Creation and data import into PDM of documentation packs (project specific). Reviewing the data stored in company archives and orderly disposal of those items that are no longer needed under the instruction of the Technical Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible data entry and maintenance of:
    • Part codes
      • Entry, description and supplied linkage
    • Drawings and specification ‘issue’
    • Support in the creation of BOMs
      • Maintenance and changes to BOMs
      • Liaison with the Project teams over changes made
    • Filing of drawings and specification as requested
    • Completion of print requests for supplier drawings
    • Product configuration management
  • Proactive review of legacy drawings. Initiation of change notes and work packages – impeding engineering change notices and design office request’s (IECN) DORs as appropriate in the correction of those drawings deemed to be in error.
  • Update of department specific documentation and work flows, under guidance of department owner.
  • Verification of data entry by reviewing, correcting, deleting or re-entering data; combining data when requested should information be incomplete.
  • Review/detailed check of output drawings for design for manufacture (DFM) and feedback to the team improvements and techniques that will improve knowledge base.
  • Respond to printing requests from a variety of internal and external customers and produce documentation to the standard required
  • Create, review and receive new draft of company specifications and standards from the various departments. Ensure all documentation received is to company standard and filed within the company system to ensure access is provided for the relevant personnel
  • Support component selection with creation of engineering specification from product data sheets as directed by the design & project engineers
  • Create, review, update and maintain parts details, par lists sub-assemblies and bill of materials in the operations/factory master database
  • Ensure only the latest copies of drawings are available electronically for use throughout the company
  • Ensure company technical requirements and relevant professional standards and codes of practice are maintained and adhered to

  • Qualifications, experience and skills

Profile

Essential Requirements:

  • Design office or administration experience
  • Knowledge drawing practices and BS8888
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office suite
  • Production environment experience
  • Qualification in an engineering or science based subject

Preferred but not essential:

  • Experience of working within a defence environment
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 or a similar QA system
  • Experience of a role as drawing checker inclusive of DFM feedback
  • Knowledge and use of Dassault Systems PDM (Product Data Management package)
  • Knowledge and use of Solidworks
  • Able to build long-term successful partnerships internally
  • Candidates must be flexible, enthusiastic, self-motivated and able to use initiative and work without close supervision
  • Knowledge and or use of Operations II and or Factory Master MRP

Other requirements:

  • Candidates must have an existing right to live and work in the UK.
  • Candidates will need to undergo an internal BPSS check prior to gaining site access.
  • Candidates will also need to either hold a current SC clearance or be willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance check (SC level) upon starting their employment with the company. To gain SC clearance you will normally need at least 5 years’ UK residency.
