The Space Talent Acquisition Team of Serco is working with many exciting new ventures around the world involved with innovative New Space and Remote Sensing technologies surrounding earth observation.

On behalf of our client, we are looking for a Global Systems Engineer. You will be first-handily combating climate change by working with our client who provides a satellite-based methane monitoring service. This service allows worldwide regulators and emitters to assess and reduce their emissions.

Your mission as a Global Systems Engineer will place you responsible for the design, engineering and deployment of the satellite system (including the space segment and the ground segment) that meets the overall mission requirements, particularly in terms of quality, cost and time.

Responsibilities

  • Define/lead the entire E2E satellite-ground architecture and operations
  • Own/manage/maintain E2E performance budgets
  • Define/manage interfaces between E2E segments
  • Define/control the E2E validation/verification approach
  • Coordinate the statement of work of each of the E2E segments
  • Analyse mission requirements and map them to system components
  • Coordinate between different technical stakeholders (e.g. Space Segment and Ground Segment, User Segment) to confirm the performance of each and ensure that the overall system will meet performance requirements, in launch and operating environments (radiation, mechanical, thermal, lifetime, etc.)
  • Play a lead role in design trade-offs, working with technical stakeholders and program management to ensure all aspects have been considered
  • Lead system-level product reviews (e.g. critical design reviews, airworthiness reviews, etc.) ensuring quality technical documentation and presentation
  • Work with program management to identify and manage risks and opportunities

Profile

  • Master’s degree (BAC+5), in an engineering discipline such as space engineering
  • 5 years of experience as a systems engineer on complex space missions
  • Experience in systems architecture and engineering. Knowledge of validation, testing and verification is a plus
  • Experience in ground segment and space segment engineering is a strong asset
  • Previous experience working on Earth observation missions is a plus
  • Knowing how to use requirements management tools is a plus
  • Good writing and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment and to adapt to frequent changes
  • Fluent in French and English
