By making space data more accessible and affordable, we want to be the platform that allows applicable solutions to be the prevention, not the cure. When tragedy strikes, Earth Observation satellites can be used to detect where resources would be most effective and map out the scale of damage to help decision makers rebuild.

Responsibilities

You will be joining Open Cosmos’ core team in Harwell-Oxford (UK) and will be in charge of designing, simulating and testing electronic systems. You will be involved in a rapid turnaround design-test-iterate cycle that characterises Open Cosmos’ work with ample opportunity to learn new skills and better existing ones.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Design, simulation, verification and validation of PCB schematics and layout.
• Design power systems and high speed digital circuit design.
• Execute design validation and assist with design qualification.
• Generation of documentation.
• Work independently and under pressure.
• Embrace challenge and work outside of the comfort zone.
• Commit to fulfill customer requirements and expectations.
• Take initiative and work in a self-driven manner.

Profile

Skills, attitude and experience

• Over 5 years experience as an electronic engineer involving:
  • High speed design and routing
  • Analog circuit design and test
  • EMC analysis and validation
  • Power supply design and test
  • Multilayer PCB design
• Embedded software development
• Space electronics design experience
• Honesty, openness and self awareness

Nice to have

• Experience with C, C++, Python
• Experience with Linux, Bash data/process handling & scripting
• Experience with Verilog/VHDL
• Experience in RF
• Experience with solar powered applications and MPPT design
• Familiar with Kicad / Altium Designer
• Experience on embedded software using DSP
• Agile methods experience (Agile, Scrum, …)
• Knowledge of languages other than English
