The Senior Flight Reliability Manager will be responsible for defining Rocket Lab’s internal flight reliability deliverables based on USG certification requirements and externally presenting and reviewing this data with key customers and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Duties & Responsibilities Flight Reliability Engineer
    • Support USG flight certification and mission assurance requirements, reporting, and reviews.
    • Define internal standards and reporting based on USG specific certification requirements.
    • Identify and mitigate design, production, test and launch support deficiencies and/or risks.
    • Assist Mission Delivery team in the development of internal systems to track launch vehicle pedigree and support customer pedigree reviews.
  • Mission Management
    • Execute launch services agreements including customer reviews, and contractual milestones.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to review and manage businesses growing launch manifest.
    • Develop interface control documents between customers’ spacecraft and Electron launch vehicle.
    • Represent customer payload(s) during launch operations through deployment on orbit.
    • Ensure customers meet the applicable range safety requirements as well as Rocket Lab internal requirements for safely processing in Rocket Lab facilities and interfacing with launch vehicle hardware.
    • Identify mission risks and manage the burn down in cooperation with engineering staff and customer representatives.
    • Identify opportunities to streamline mission management process and improve customer satisfaction.
    • Manage mission budget and spend plan by balancing customer revenue against mission specific expenditures to ensure mission profitability.
    • Ensure all applicable payload launch & export licensing is complete in advance of each mission.
    • Review launch vehicle changes and upgrades and assess impact to downstream customer requirements and vice versa.
  • Required Education & Experience
    • 4-year engineering degree (Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or other relevant major).
    • 5+ years of experience as a flight reliability engineer.
  • Additional Information
    • Occasional domestic and international travel.
    • Additional duties and responsibilities as reasonably required.
