The Staff Accountant will be responsible for monthly financial reporting processes (e.g. journal entries and reconciliations, budget versus actual detailed analysis support), Fixed Asset accounting, certain compliance activities (e.g. property tax, state registration and reporting) and technical accounting activities.

Responsibilities

• Support the month and year-end accounting close, including assigned journal entries, accruals, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare work papers for annual financial statement audit.
• Provide support to AP function to ensure proper account coding and month end accruals.
• May participate in process reviews, business process analyses and internal control monitoring to ensure compliance with the specifications of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) within assigned function.
• Participate in system implementations such as ERP and other applications, as needed.
• Assist with subjective reserve analyses (Allowance for Doubtful Accounts, E&O, etc.).
• Maintain fixed asset and associated depreciation schedules to insure proper recording of purchases and disposals.
• Ad-hoc reporting as needed for financial analysis, management requests, etc.
• Research variances with appropriate departments.

Required Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or business administration.
• 3+ years of accounting experience with staff accountant responsibilities in industry and/or 2+ years of accounting experience with a public accounting firm.
• Manufacturing environments a plus.
• Demonstrate strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
• Strong organizational skills and attention-to-detail.
• CPA/MBA preferred.
