About this job

  • EUMETSAT offers the opportunity for pupils between the age of 14 and 18 and who are nationals of our member states to join us for a two-week internship at the Headquarters in Darmstadt, Germany. EUMETSAT offers the internship scheme in two fixed periods to up to 20 pupils every year. The next opportunity is for the period from 19th – 30th October 2020.
  • EUMETSAT does not offer vocational training but wants to encourage pupils to seek higher education in the domains of Science, Engineering, Information Technology or administrative tasks.
  • Interested pupils are kindly invited to apply with their short CV including a motivation letter in English and your most recent school report. We appreciate if the motivation letter includes an indication of specific areas of interest, which will allow us to allocate the most suitable internship supervisor to the successful applicants.
  • Applicants will receive feedback within 6 weeks, after the end of the application phase.
  • An agreement between parents and EUMETSAT will be concluded to confirm the internship. The internship is free of charge. There is no entitlement to compensation or holidays for the period of the internship.
  • EUMETSAT shall not bear any costs for the intern’s transportation to and from EUMETSAT’s premises during the internship and the parents or legal guardian and the school authorities shall be responsible for ensuring adequate social security, medical cover and accident insurance coverage for the period of the internship.

Responsibilities

During the internship, the pupils will be hosted by a EUMETSAT Staff member and will support the work of the respective division. This will include support to some routine tasks and work on small projects. Additionally, the interns will have the chance to visit the Control Centre and join other exciting activities at EUMETSAT that will give an impression of the working life in an international space organisation.

Profile

  • Interest in Science, Engineering and/or the administrative work of a public, international organisation;
  • Ability to communicate in English (Speaking/Reading/Writing);
  • Interest in the mission and work of EUMETSAT and curiosity and willingness to learn.
