The European Gravitational Observatory (EGO), in order to consolidate and expand the Information Technology services that allow the observation of gravitational waves and support the future research, opens a call for a 1+1 years Systems Administrator position in the Information Technology Department.
EGO is a French-Italian consortium founded by INFN and CNRS to foster European collaboration in gravitational wave research.
The EGO IT Department has the responsibility of the design and operation of the local IT infrastructure supporting the EGO consortium mission, the Advanced Virgo experiment on-line computing and data storage for the prompt detection of gravitational waves and the Virgo collaboration institutional activity. The IT systems and activities include various virtualization platforms, linux clusters, an HTCondor farm, shared file systems and data handling software, security assessment and identity management, a Web framework and the integration of the AdVirgo collaboration provided subsystems.
1 + 1 years contract at the level of “Tecnologo” according to the “Contratto Collettivo di Lavoro del Personale EGO” (EGO personnel collective bargaining agreement).
The earliest possible after October, 1st 2020.
The successful candidate will participate in the design, implementation and operation of the linux-based systems in a challenging environment including both mission-critical continuous service and development of forefront technologies.
The post may require the selected candidate works outside of normal working hours, including nights, weekends and public holidays, and may require participation in a regular on-call service. It may happen to cope with technically difficult situations, and to work within strict deadlines.
