About this job

In close collaboration (or in partnership) with the IABG, the project manager for natural risk management, with the help of support teams, develops concepts and studies that propose solutions for natural risk management in Morocco to national public users. This will initially require close coordination between the Moroccan authorities and stakeholders, European and Moroccan project partners, the EU delegation and the IABG. In particular, priority is given to disaster management and prevention in the definition and development of technical solutions: data infrastructure, platforms, dashboards. The deployment is mainly in Morocco, hence the need for high level competence in the language and in relations with local authorities.

Responsibilities

  • Management of international projects in the context of natural risk management in developing countries (North Africa and Morocco in particular)
  • Responsible and interface of the public partners of the partner countries and in particular Morocco
  • Organization of workshops and interviews
  • Development of strategies and solutions
  • Identification of public user needs
  • Proposal of technical solutions
  • Team management, international multi-partner groups
  • Write tender proposals, minutes, notes
  • Presence on site at least 50% of the working time with several consecutive months

Profile

  • Advanced degree in a field of natural or engineering sciences (earth observation, hydraulics, etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of natural risk management issues, environmental issues, climate change, space observation technology
  • Good knowledge of IT and data infrastructure
  • Experience as a project manager with international institutions or development agencies (World Bank, GIZ, French development agency, etc.) is a plus
  • Professional experience in international project management with more than 5 years
  • At least 5 years of practical experience in the field of technical cooperation for development
  • Experience in the design of development projects
  • Strong intercultural communication skills and good knowledge of Morocco
  • Ability to manage relationships with external partners, Moroccan interlocutors and the company
  • French mother tongue or excellent oral and written knowledge
  • Excellent knowledge of English to communicate internationally and write,
  • Other advantageous language skills (e. g. Arabic, German)
  • Autonomous, flexible and honest
