ESA is looking for an Operations Data Systems Engineer.
Description
Operations Data Systems Engineer in the Earth Observation Mission Data Systems Section of the Mission Operations Data Systems Division, Ground Systems Engineering and Innovation Department, Directorate of Operations.
The Mission Operations Data Systems Division is responsible for the definition, implementation, acceptance and maintenance of operational data systems. This includes, but is not limited to:
You will report to the Head of the Earth Observation Mission Data Systems Section, and be part of the Earth Observation Section team responsible for delivering mission data systems to the ESA Earth observation and Copernicus missions.
The initial assignment is expected to include responsibility for (not exhaustive list):
Duties will include the following main tasks:
Technical competencies
Experience in the development of complex data systems software
Ability to understand user needs in complex software systems
Experience in Software engineering methods and tools used in development of data processing systems
Experience in the management of software projects
Experience in the development of operational simulators
Knowledge of control centre infrastructure relevant for ESOC
Education
A Master’s Degree in engineering or informatics.
Additional requirements
Successful candidates should have at least two years’ proven experience in the development of complex data systems software and an extensive grasp of new technologies relevant to modern software engineering and simulation. Familiarity and interest in one or more of the following general areas would be a very strong asset: MBSE, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Big Data Technologies.
