Description
Supply Chain Development (SCD) Engineer in the Quality, Supply Chain and Knowledge Management Section; Quality, Dependability and PA Support Division; Product Assurance and Safety Department; Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality.

The Quality and Supply Chain Management Section is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of quality and supply chain management expertise and standards. The Section provides quality and knowledge management support to ESA corporate areas, manages accreditation and certification schemes, and supports the evaluation and monitoring of ESA supply chain quality in close cooperation with Industrial, Procurement & Legal Services and Programme Directorates. Furthermore, the Section hosts the IT team, which supports the development, maintenance and operations of IT solutions for the Department’s core activities.

 

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Head of Section, your main tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • providing expert support in the field of Supply Chain Development and Management;
  • liaising with other ESA directorates (in particular the Directorate of Industry, Procurement and Legal Services) to support the definition and implementation of the overall supply chain development strategy;
  • establishing and executing Supply Chain Development policies, requirements, standards and procedures;
  • supporting and participating in ESA Working Group(s) and Workshops related to Supply Chain Development/Management;
  • supporting, upon request, the coordination of the ESA processes for suppliers assessment and their growth in the Space Market;
  • contributing to the development of assessment methodologies addressing Manufacturing / Space Readiness Levels of the Directorate low/mid TRL suppliers;
  • coordinating, planning, executing and leading supplier audits;
  • monitoring ESA internal and external alerts and their impact on ESA Supply Chain;
  • defining, initiating and managing R&D activities in the domain of activity;
  • promoting ESA SCD activities, disseminating their results as well as preparing and providing related training;
  • upon request, participating in the Directorate Competence Domains.

Duties may also include supporting other activities within your field of competence.

Profile

Technical competencies
General background and specific experience in the technical domains covered by the position
Experience with R&D and space company evaluation and monitoring
Experience in the management and monitoring of industrial activities
Lead Auditor training and experience

Education
A Master’s degree in engineering or technical sciences is required.

Additional requirements
Knowledge and experience of Risk Management methodologies as well as of ECSS standards will be an asset. Experience in the definition, implementation and certification of quality management systems compliant to ISO9001, EN9100 and ISO17025 standards will be an asset.
Security clearance from the relevant national security administration is required.
