Description
You will report to the Novacom II / Space Inspire Project Manager and will be the focal point and local day- to-day interface with the prime contractor regarding the Novacom II / Space Inspire Partnership Project.
You will support the development of a long-term partnership with the industry partner by fostering reliable technical collaboration and contributing to new innovation developments and digitalisation procurement.
Space Inspire is a new product line for geostationary satellites that will provide customers with unprecedented flexibility for video broadcasting and broadband connectivity services by reconfiguring their missions and services instantly in orbit.

Responsibilities

 

  • Ensuring smooth operations between the ESA and TAS Novacom II Project Teams;
  • Participating in the prime contractor’s weekly Novacom II project progress and technical meetings;
  • Participating in the briefing of supplier selection status and TAS procurement decisions related to Novacom II;
  • Contributing to the development and validation of innovative subsystems/equipment for integration in the Space Inspire new generic product line up to product line on-ground qualification;
  • Participating in the overall design activities related to Novacom II/Space Inspire;
  • Contributing to the maintenance of the project risk register;
  • Monitoring the progress and achievements of the project milestone;
  • Providing continuous feedback and reporting to the Novacom II ESA team;
  • Providing inputs for regular technical, programmatic and financial reporting to ESA management and participating States;
  • Contributing to new satellite equipment and systems development and digitalisation procurement in conjunction with industry.

Profile

 
Technical competencies
Multi-disciplinary knowledge of area of responsibility
Knowledge of industrial costs and schedule aspects
Knowledge of space platform and payload technologies
Space system development and PA standards
Complex project risk management processes
Knowledge of ESA and mission/spacecraft development, verification and procurement processes

Education
A Master’s degree in a scientific or engineering discipline is required

Additional requirements
You should have the ability to work effectively in an international team environment.
You should be able to summarise complex information and have good communication skills, both verbal and written, as well as manage challenging situations proactively and constructively.
Experience in working in complex space programmes up to launch and in-orbit testing is desirable, preferably in the telecommunications domain.
Direct experience of working with a commercial telecommunications industry and operator will be a distinct advantage. Experience in Partnership Projects would be an asset.
A good command of spoken and written French would be a strong asset.
