ESA is looking for a Space Transportation Technologies Coordination Officer.

Responsibilities

 

  • Fosters transversal exchanges on programmes, identifying technology synergies across the different Space Transportation programmes and projects;
  • Establishes technology coordination roadmaps under Space Transportation Directorate programmes and monitors implementation of the agreed actions;
  • Identifies technology gaps hampering competitiveness of the European Space Transportation sector, as well as associated improvement actions;
  • Liaises with the Directorate of Technology, Engineering and Quality (D/TEC) regarding space transportation technology matters and advanced concept studies;
  • Supports Space Transportation activity harmonisation in ESA technological forums (e.g. TECNET and various technology harmonisation initiatives);
  • Establishes and maintains technology databases of capabilities for each Member State, identifying overcapacities and/or opportunities;
  • Is involved in optimised technology sharing among the European industrial capabilities across the various Member States;
  • Supports the independent technical and planning assessment of selected industrial technology files;
  • Coordinates and maintains the risk register and monitors implementation of risk mitigation actions across the Directorate;
  • Proposes and implements initiatives aiming to maximise the applications return from the technology investments by Directorate programmes.

Profile

Technical competencies
Technical and technological knowledge of Space Transportation systems worldwide
Broad system and technological insight of European Space Transportation systems
Experience in the management of contracts related to system and/or technologies developments

Education
A Master’s degree in an engineering discipline is required.

Additional requirements
You should have:

  • the ability to think strategically about systems and technology;
  • excellent knowledge of the European and global Space Transportation sectors.

In addition, you should have:

  • the ability to foster cooperation within and across teams throughout the organisation;
  • demonstrated relationship management and communication skills, both oral and written;
  • excellent cognitive, analytical, planning and organisational skills;
  • the ability to reach solution-oriented, pragmatic and timely ways forward.

You must be eligible for security clearance by your national security administration.
