The successful Intern will be based in our main office at Sint-Stevens-Woluwe (Brussels Area). The internship is available at the Robotics, Mechanisms & Structures Team (System Department). The Team is responsible for the design, development, and testing of robotic systems for orbital and planetary applications. The candidate will mainly report to the Robotics, Mechanisms & Structures Team Lead.

The team is seeking first or second year Master’s students interested in joining our team as an intern. As a mechatronics and robotics intern you would work on robotics system design for a wide variety of applications. Past projects developed by the team have covered various fields such as orthosis to support astronauts maintaining bone and muscle mass in space, moon rovers, exoskeletons and robotic arms.

We currently are considering interns for the following projects:

  • Design, development, testing and validation of a flexible wheel for the LUVMI-X moon rover aimed at reducing ground pressure
  • Simulation of thermal loads for the LUVMI-X moon rover (via software modelling and development of dummy systems tested on the rover) to support the heat management strategy
  • Design, development, testing and validation of a solar panel deployer for the LUVMI-X moon rover using flexible solar panels.

Our internship opportunities may be discussed on a case-by-case basis depending on the skills and interests of the intern.
