The Volunteer for International Experience (VIE) program is an international program sponsored by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Employment, open to Airbus to offer young professionals the opportunity to have valuable paid work experience abroad in a technical or business function.

The VIE is a specific contract, under Business France’s eligibility criteria.

VIE Main Requirements:

  • European Union citizens (plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Monaco), graduates up to and including 28 years old.
  • Have fulfilled military obligations for their country, if any.
  • Fluent in English.

A VIE position as Research Data Analyst (m/f) has arisen within CIS (Communications, Intelligence and Security) department at Airbus Defence and Space (ADS) within European Space Agency (ESA) premises in Frascati, Italy. CIS is the supplier of choice for delivery of trusted connectivity and insights for smarter decisions – anytime and anywhere – for a safer future. The activities of CIS centre around three axes: actionable intelligence, secure connectivity and cyber security.

You will work in ESA’s new Phi Lab, an open European research environment, to develop for Airbus CIS new applications. This 12 month’s duration contract will start on July 1st, 2019 at the earliest.

Responsibilities

The focus will be on using innovative data analysis approaches like deep learning and applying it on Airbus and/or ESA/Copernicus data.

This role could involve some travel for business and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company’s success, reputation and sustainable growth.

Profile

You have the following skills and experience:

  • A scientific academic background (applied mathematics, physics, remote sensing or similar) with at least a university master degree or equivalent
  • Proven experience in the field of Deep Learning and in particular in convolutional neural networks (CNNs) applied to satellite data
  • Proven experience in programming, computer vision and remote sensing or similar
  • Knowledge of the following SW systems is regarded as an asset (Python, Deep Learning environments (PyTorch, Tensorflow, Caffe), Google or Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform, Erdas Imagine, ArcGIS)
  • You already have an international experience (> 6 months)
  • Experience required in data analysis
  • Artificial intelligence experience would be a plus

Languages:

  • Negotiation level of English
  • Other language would be a plus
