Serco is recruiting an Oracle Administrator / Developer for Sapienza to work on our Customers Site (ESA-ESTEC) starting with the 01.01.2023, until the 31.12.2024.

Responsibilities

  • Experience in database and query tuning / performance.
  • Experience setting up own application platform environment (installation and configuration of Database, Web Server…).
  • Identify opportunities to maintain and optimize database performance.
  • Continuously seek to more efficiently manage and utilize Oracle DB products and platform.
  • Capable of writing ad-hoc SQL queries to database systems to extract data for custom user requests.
  • Experience with PL/SQL.
  • Evaluate, recommend, install, test, upgrade, and maintain existing or proposed systems to structure and access database.
  • Experience in designing entity models and implementing them in RDBMS.
  • Follow engineering best-practices when designing systems.
  • Knowledge and experience with Software Development and Design patterns / best practices.
  • Experience in development through all aspects of a Web application (UI frontend technologies – Javascript, CSS, jQuery) down to the database level, writing own queries in SQL.
  • Experience designing and implementing interfaces between applications / systems (REST Web Services, not limited to).
  • Good knowledge of more than 1 programming language, eager to learn and adapt / switch (Javascript, Python, Java.).
  • Familiarity with Agile software development practices.
  • Good knowledge of version control systems, particularly Git in combination with Gitlab.
  • Ability to support users directly either through phone calls or e-mails.

Profile

  • Master’s degree or equivalent with relevant experience.
  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience required.
  • Strong Oracle experience is a must.
  • Low-code platforms and particularly experience with Oracle APEX.
  • Experience with Dev-ops methodologies and concepts.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office platform (Excel, Word, …)
  • Experience with all stages of software development, including pre-delivery Q&A (designing/ participation in User Acceptance Tests) and deployment.
  • Experience with JIRA or other ticketing systems.
  • Experience with lifecycle of Oracle database systems and related technologies (perform installation in new environments, upgrade existing ones).
  • Strong experience in: Maintenance of Oracle DB, Installing, Performance tuning, Database Administration.
  • Perform both Oracle Administration and Oracle System engineering
  • Proficient in the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of another EU member state language is an asset.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the EU.
