Dedicated to the European Space Agency’s Earth-observing activities, ESA-ESRIN is the European centre of excellence for exploitation of Earth observation missions. The mission and payload operations of ESA’s Earth observation satellites are managed here, and ESRIN is the primary source for the acquisition, distribution, and exploitation of data from these and other non-ESA satellites.

Serco Italy has a long history of providing Earth Observation operations, maintenance and front-end services to ESA. To provide continual service improvement, Serco has recently introduced a special focus on evolution and innovation, with the aim of supporting ESA in further evolving the services and products.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a SW Engineer, based in Italy.

Responsibilities

• Integration and support to the validation of SW developed by supplier.
• Analysis of the technical requirements and delivery of a light ADD only for this specific component.
• Periodic report to the customer.
• Planning and monitoring of activities, events and resources.
• Drafting of the integration plan, verification and release of system.
• Monitoring of ATP (Acceptance Test Procedures), FAT (Factory Acceptance Test) and SAT (Site Acceptance Test).
• Analyse and find solutions to system and application problems.
• Ensure alignment, storage and generation software at all integration stages.
• Operational assistance at the customer, training on the job and preparation of user manuals.

Profile

• University degree in scientific matter
• 5 years experience in programming and SW development/design
• Knowledge of ITIL standard
• Good knowledge of English written and spoken
• Flexible and cooperative
• Good communication skills
• Availability to travel in Italy for short missions
• Diplomatic, wise, honest, acting in conformance with privacy law
