Ready to launch your career? We are looking for a dynamic Junior Software Engineer to join our team on site at our client, the esteemed ESA-ESTEC in the Netherlands. The ideal candidate should have a strong experience in Microsoft Office as Visual Basic, Power User, Power Pivot, Power Query, ParallelDots, Office Tab, Tableau or other similar tools to increase the productivity of the Microsoft Office products.

The role of the European Space Agency (ESA) Cyber-Internal Auditor (CIA) is to perform cybersecurity Audits for the Galileo Program. To this extend they have developed several Custom software tools called “Computer-Assisted Audit Techniques (hereinafter referred to as the “CAATS”). The CAATS is a set of MS Excel based applications using Macros and MS Virtual Basic to analyze audits data, test and validate audits data, generate reports for the audits, visualize the data for reporting purpose.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain the existing CAATS application elements and existing software functionality.
  • Investigate, analyse and correct identified defects within established service level agreements.
  • Design and implement improvements and/or new functions for the operational use of the system.
  • Develop software to meet requirements / specifications in accordance with the development schedule.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify requirements and provide input into User Stories.
  • Ensure code meets quality standards and definition of done.
  • Provide excellent technical support to the business community, ensuring issues are addressed promptly.

Profile

MANDATORY EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Expertise, at least, 3 years in software development.
  • Experience in conducting projects reviews (document and SW development processes).
  • Experience programming in Visual Basic.
  • Knowledge about add-ins, plugins and apps for Microsoft Office as Power User, Power Pivot, Power Query, ParallelDots, Office Tab, Tableau or other similar tools to increase the productivity of the Microsoft Office products.
  • Relevant technical experience (preferably software engineering).
  • Knowledge about the ISACA Framework, ISO27K, NIST or COBIT standards is an asset.
  • Good understanding of the software development process.
  • Good understanding of the software delivery.
  • Experience on development with Google Earth Studio, Goole Maps and Microsoft Bing Maps is an asset.
  • Experience on development of Data Mining and Blockchain Tools is an asset.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory.
  • Minimum a bachelor´s degree or equivalent, preferably in the field of software engineering.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are needed, together with a high degree organizational and communication abilities.
  • Comfortable with working in a diverse and multinational team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and establish good working relations with relevant actors in ESA and Industry.
  • Proficient in the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of another EU member state language is an asset.
  • Candidate must have an EU nationality and hold a valid EU passport.
  • Eligible to request the Security Clearance up to level EU/ESA SECRET
