On behalf of our customer EUMETSAT, we are currently seeking a talented DataOps Engineer to join our team in Darmstadt.

As a member of the Data Access Services Operations (DASO) service team you will be part of a team supporting the operations of our customers mission-specific and multi-mission dissemination systems, including the dissemination of meteorological and climate products from their operational satellites.  In addition the near real time redistribution of meteorological data and products available from other satellite operators from Europe, the US, India, China, Japan, etc. are equally as critical for economical and humanitarian weather predictions.  By configuring and operating data flows within the Multi Mission Dissemination Systems and utilising the various methods of dissemination available, for example EUMETCast Satellite data multicasting services with footprints over Europe and Africa, EUMETCast Terrestrial data multicasting services, VPN’s, internet and WMO resources you will be a key team player contributing to the humanitarian and economical needs of many nations.

Responsibilities

  • Analysing Dissemination Systems operations and performance, raising Anomaly Reports and proposing evolutions.
  • Coordinate the production of operational procedures, documents and training of the operations teams.
  • Support the customer user helpdesk in enquiries related to dissemination services.
  • Support the extension of the user base for the customer data, products and services in customer Member States and World Meteorological Organisation Members.
  • Support the evolution of dissemination systems for future programs.
  • Ensuring Data Access Service Operations perform within service levels.
  • Operational performance monitoring and reporting, including the development, documentation and maintenance of the relevant tools for e.g. statistics generation, monitoring and reporting.
  • Developing, testing and implementing of new configurations.
  • Creation of and delivery of training material to various audiences, for examples from users through to engineers.
  • First line maintenance, including regular periods of 24/7 on-call support.
  • Coordination with other service providers, external organisations, and partners.
  • Contribute to validation campaigns, and support operations build up and handover into to routine service.

Profile

  • In addition to having a university degree (or equivalent) in a discipline relevant to the job profile, the successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience in the operation and maintenance of real-time, complex, 24/7 communications or command and control system.
  • Demonstrated experience in the design, operation and/or maintenance of real-time, complex, 24/7 communications or command and control systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in operations/maintenance of/or software development, for real-time services.
  • Experience of basic system administration i.e. configuration, installation, and Shell scripting for Linux and Windows.
  • Demonstrated experience in major Linux distributions and Windows (Windows 10 or later) as a user.
  • Computer analysis skills, including analysis of events and logs.
  • Familiar with MS Office 365 package.
  • Understanding of configuration control.
  • Familiarity with issue tracking tools (e.g., JIRA).
  • Fluent in English.
  • Able to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined manner, and is able to work under pressure with minimum supervision.
