We are seeking a Radio Navigation Engineer​ to work on our Customers Site (ESA-ESTEC) in the Netherlands. This is a fantastic opportunity to get into one of the most sought-after space agencies in the world.

Responsibilities

  • Support to Navigation Projects (e.g., GALILEO, LEO-PNT, Moonlight, Marconi, EGNOS, GENESIS, FutureNAV) and R&D activities in the fields of system, signal, receivers and performance for Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT).
  • Design, implementation and testing of systems, signals and receiver techniques, derivation of system and user performances, and techniques/algorithms at signal and positioning level.
  • Contribute to the Agency’s R&D strategy and research programs elaboration and implementation, among others, in the following areas: future PNT systems and concepts, LEO-PNT and Multi-layer PNT, 5G/6G and 5G/6G NTN positioning, Moon/Mars PNT, Deep Space Navigation, Geolocation and RF Monitoring, Space Receivers, GNSS-R and GNSS-RO, Precise Orbit Determination, and receiver and signal processing techniques for improved accuracy, availability, reliability and resilience.
  • Participation and active contributions to ESA activities supporting standardization bodies and technical working groups addressing the aforementioned topics.
  • Design, definition and follow up of industrial contracts related to the aforementioned topics, including for example, R&D activities, procurement of GNSS bread-boards and receivers for infrastructure or user technologies / test user segments.
  • Support design, implementation, maintenance and operation of Radio Navigation equipment, complex Radio Navigation simulation tools and test facilities for testing features (end-to-end performances, receivers, etc.) in the aforementioned activities.

Profile

  • University degree (MSc minimum) in telecommunications, electronic engineering, aerospace engineering or computer science.
  • At least 4 years of relevant work experience in telecommunications and signal processing or electronic engineering, including direct experience on GNSS.

Background and solid experience, including hands-on experience on design, implementation and/or lab/field testing, in several of the following fields:

  • Alternative PNT solutions and MultI-Layer PNT systems and user technologies.
  • LEO-PNT systems, signals and user technologies.
  • GNSS Reflectometry; – GNSS Radio Occultation.
  • Moon/Mars PNT, Deep Space Navigation.
  • Navigation with Signals of Opportunity.
  • Space Receivers.
  • Precise Orbit Determination.
  • Geolocation and RF Monitoring systems and techniques.

Experience in one or more of the following fields is considered an asset:

  • 5G/6G NTN Positioning.
  • GNSS/Galileo systems, signals and associated receiver technologies.
  • Advanced signal processing and estimation techniques.
  • Telecommunication and Navigation Payloads.
  • Satellite telecommunication systems, signals and associated receiver technologies.
  • Earth observation systems and techniques.
  • Signal-in-space design.
  • Eligibility to obtain an EU personal security clearance from the relevant national authority.
  • Comfortable with working in a diverse and multinational team environment.
  • Proficient in the English language, both written and spoken.
  • Knowledge of another EU member state language is an asset.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the EU.
